E-mail Print PDF

NewZealand A New Zealand personalized stamp was recently issued in March 2010 commemorating the 60th anniversary of Ukrainian emigration to New Zealand.  The stamp was produced under the auspices of the Ukrainian Association of New Zealand (UANZ).  The design of the stamps was based on the image of Hellenic Prince, a ship that brought the first group of Ukrainian post-World War II refugees to Wellington back in 1949.

New Zealand personalized stamps with NZD 0.50 and NZD 2.00 values were issued by New Zealand Post with a photo of the Hellenic Prince on the attached tab.  Forty sheets of 20 x 50c stamps were produced (domestic standard rate medium letter size) and 2 sheets of 20 x $2.00 stamps (domestic standard rate oversized letter).  Total number of the personalized stamps issued was 840.

Sorochynskyi Yarmarok in Australia

E-mail Print PDF

Short video of the Sorochynskyi Yarmarok (Ukrainian Fair) held in Adelaide, Australia on Sunday, December 11, at the Ukrainian Hall.  Look for George Fedyk from the Ukrainian Collectibles Society on stage (good looking guy in the white shirt) together with UCS president Frank Fursenko (dude with the mike) presenting Ulyana Grechaniuk (girl with the red hair) some UCS gifts for the wonder job she did in designing the 20th Anniversary of Ukraine's independence stamp released earlier this year in Syndey at UCSPEX-11.  Adelaide's Ukrainian community applauds their young designer.  Also watch for the wonderful philatelic display!

116th Zabijaka Auction - Closes January 15, 2012

E-mail Print PDF

Dear Friends,

The 116th Zabijaka Auction closes Sunday, January 15, at 12 noon

Welcome to the 116th auction. My life, after the move is slowly returning to normal. This auction is bigger than some in the past and contains much interesting material. The local issues are well represented with an extensive offering of Chernihiv. Regular tridents follow with some nice high values and scarcities. The other category shows some good revenue items, not to be missed. A fascinating selection of picture postcards follows with colorful views of Lviv. Postal history has some very nice items, including a philatelic cover addressed to a German philatelist Euler with many UNLISTED (in Bulat catalog) stamps. The auction concludes with a nice selection of Western Ukraine and a fascinating curiosa for you to view and enjoy.

The mailing concludes with a large selection of Direct Sale items available without waiting and bidding. All of you should find something to fit in your collection.  My very best wishes to all for a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!   .

Going to Zustrich 2012 May 5

E-mail Print PDF

Mark your calendars! "ZUSTRICH 2012" is being held on Saturday and Sunday, the 5th and 6th of May at the Ukrainian Homestead just outside Lehighton, PA. A few members arrive Friday after 6pm to catch up with friends and rest after a long trip.

Although the resort is busy during the summer with many planned functions, this weekend is ours to enjoy. Zustrich is an annual reunion for many familiar faces in a very informal setting and for first timers an opportunity to make new friendships. A few of our members are even accompanied by their wives who enjoy meeting the other philatelists! The resort grounds are wonderful for walking around during spring while the great tourist town of Jim Thorpe is just a few miles away and is a great place to see.
